قَالَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ: حَدَّثَنَا أَسْبَاطُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنِ الشَّيْبَانِيِّ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَصْرَةِ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ ؓ قَالَ:
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فِي مَجْلِسٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ لَيْلَةَ الْخَمِيسِ فِي رَمَضَانَ، وَلَمْ يَصُمْ رَمَضَانَ بَعْدَهُ، يَقُولُ: الشَّعِيرُ بِالشَّعِيرِ، قَفِيزًا بِقَفِيزٍ، يَدًا بِيَدٍ، وَمَا زَادَ فَهُوَ رِبًا

✧ I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a gathering of the Ansar on Thursday night in Ramadan—and he did not fast Ramadan after that—saying: Barley for barley, qafiz for qafiz, hand to hand, and any excess is usury.
