✧ I stayed in the mosque of Madinah with a man from the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ, from Banu Bayadah, during the last ten nights of Ramadan, in a dome of his whose door was covered with a piece of matting. He said: While we were in the mosque, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was in a dome of his, he lifted the matting from the door and signaled to those in the mosque to gather. We gathered, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave us an admonition, the like of which I have never heard from any preacher. He said: When one of you stands to pray, he is conversing privately with his Lord, blessed and exalted is He, so let him consider with what he converses. And let not some of you raise their voices over others with the Qur'an. Then he lowered the matting, and each of us returned to his place. Some of us said to others: This night has great significance, for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ admonished us during it. And indeed it was the night of the twenty-third.
