✧ The Sunnah of Breaking the Fast with Dates, Fresh Dates, or What Fire Has Not Touched

قَالَ الْحَارِثُ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ، ثَنَا ابْنُ جَرِيحٍ، حُدِّثْتُ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ؓ، قَالَ:
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَصُومُ فِي الصَّيْفِ، لَا يُصَلِّي فِي الصَّيْفِ الْمَغْرِبَ إِذَا كَانَ صَائِمًا حَتَّى آتِيَهُ بِرُطَبٍ فَيَأْكُلَ وَيَشْرَبَ، ثُمَّ يَقُومَ فَيُصَلِّيَ، وَإِذَا كَانَ الشِّتَاءُ أَتَيْتُهُ بِتَمْرٍ فَيَأْكُلُ وَيَشْرَبُ، ثُمَّ يَقُومُ يُصَلِّي
Translation

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ used to fast in summer. When fasting in summer, he would not pray Maghrib until I brought him fresh dates, and he would eat and drink, then stand and pray. In winter, I brought him dried dates, and he would eat and drink, then stand and pray.
