✧ The Grains from Which Zakat Is Taken

قَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ الْأَسْوَدِ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ يَحْيَى، عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ بْنِ أَبِي مُوسَى قَالَ:

إِنَّ أَبَا مُوسَى وَمُعَاذًا ؓ حِينَ بُعِثَا إِلَى الْيَمَنِ لِيُعَلِّمَا النَّاسَ دِينَهُمْ لَمْ يَأْخُذَا الصَّدَقَةَ إِلَّا مِنْ هَذِهِ الْأَرْبَعَةِ: الْحِنْطَةِ، وَالشَّعِيرِ، وَالتَّمْرِ، وَالزَّبِيبِ

✧ Indeed, when Abu Musa and Mu'adh ؓ were sent to Yemen to teach the people their religion, they did not take sadaqa except from these four: wheat, barley, dates, and raisins.
