✧ The Prohibition of Reviling the Dead and the Encouragement to Speak Well of Them

قَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، أَنْبَأَنِي خَيْثَمَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ:

مَثَلُ الَّذِي يَسُبُّ الْمَيِّتَ كَالْمُشْرِفِ عَلَى الْهَلَكَةِ، وَمَثَلُ الَّذِي يَجْلِسُ عَلَى فِرَاشِ الْمُغِيبَةِ، مَثَلُ الَّذِي تُنَفَّسُ دُبُرُهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ

Translation

✧ The likeness of one who reviles the dead is like one who stands on the brink of destruction, and the likeness of one who sits on the bed of a woman whose husband is absent is like one whose anus lets out wind on the Day of Resurrection.
