✧ The Permission to Weep for the Deceased

قَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى: حَدَّثَنَا زَحْمَوَيْهِ، حَدَّثَنَا صَالِحٌ، حَدَّثَنَا حَاجِبٌ، قَالَ:

دَخَلْتُ مَعَ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ الْأَعْرَجِ عَلَى بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، فَتَذَاكَرُوا الْمَيِّتَ يُعَذَّبُ بِبُكَاءِ الْحَيِّ، فَحَدَّثَنَا بَكْرٌ، قَالَ

Translation

✧ I entered with al-Hakam b. al-A'raj upon Bakr b. 'Abdullah, and they discussed the deceased being punished by the weeping of the living. Bakr narrated to us, saying:
