What scholars said about it
In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.
- Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr
machine translationIbn al-Mājishūn narrated this ḥadīth from Mālik, from Nāfiʿ, from Ibn ʿUmar, but that is an error (khaṭaʾ); Ibn al-Mājishūn was not followed in it. The correct version is Mālik from ʿAbdullāh b. Dīnār, not from Nāfiʿ.
in موطأ مالك, p. 1421 - Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr
machine translationThis ḥadīth was transmitted uniquely by ʿAbdullāh b. Dīnār, and the people needed him for it. It is a ḥadīth acted upon by most of the scholars among the Companions, the Followers, and those after them from the later generations.
in موطأ مالك, p. 1421 - Dāraquṭnī
machine translationMuḥammad b. Sulaymān b. Abī Dāwūd, who is from Ḥarrān, was alone in narrating it. It was said: is he trustworthy (thiqah)? He said: No. [He narrated it] from Mālik b. Anas, from ʿAbdullāh b. Dīnār, from Ibn ʿUmar, from ʿUmar, from the Prophet ﷺ, and he erred in mentioning ʿUmar. The correct version is from Ibn ʿUmar, from the Prophet ﷺ.
