Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that Abdullah ibn Umar used to do tayammum up to his elbows. Malik was asked about how tayammum was done and what parts were covered and he said, "Strike the ground once for the face and once for the arms and wipe them to the elbows."
Notes

machine translationAl-Ḥākim was silent about it and said: "I do not know anyone who traced it back (as musnad) from ʿUbaydullāh other than ʿAlī b. Ẓabyān, and he is truthful (ṣadūq). Yaḥyā b. Saʿīd, Hushaym and others, and Mālik from Nāfiʿ, have made it mawqūf."

machine translationʿAlī b. Ẓabyān raised it (as marfūʿ) in this way, but Yaḥyā b. al-Qaṭṭān, Hushaym and others made it mawqūf, and that is the correct view. Then he transmitted their report. Some of them have declared this hadith weak (ḍaʿīf) because of ʿAlī b. Ẓabyān.
