machine translationAl-Shāfiʿī says that at the beginning of the adhān one says Allāhu akbar, Allāhu akbar, Allāhu akbar, Allāhu akbar, four times, and he held that this is preserved through the transmission of trustworthy (thiqah) memorizers (ḥuffāẓ) in the ḥadīth of ʿAbdullāh b. Zayd and the ḥadīth of Abū Maḥdhūrah, and that it is an addition which must be accepted.

machine translationThe fourfold repetition of the takbīr at the beginning of the adhān is well preserved (maḥfūẓ) in the narration of the reliable (thiqah) memorizers (ḥuffāẓ) in the hadith of ʿAbdullāh b.
