What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

machine translationIbn Abī al-Akhḍar's mention of this from al-Zuhrī is stranger (aghrab) than the mention of Zamʿah in this hadith. That is because the hadith of Zamʿah was narrated from him by Abū Nuʿaym, from al-Zuhrī, from Sālim, from his father. It was also narrated from ʿAlī b. Qādim, from Zamʿah, from al-Zuhrī, from Anas. As for the narration of Ibn Abī al-Akhḍar, I know it only from the hadith of Muʿāfā b. ʿImrān, from him.

  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationṢāliḥ b. Abī al-Akhḍar and Zamʿah b. Ṣāliḥ narrated it from al-Zuhrī, from Sālim, from his father. Al-Muʿāfā b. ʿImrān also narrated it, and there is disagreement about him: Muḥammad b. Muḥammad b. Sulaymān al-Bāghandī said, from Ibn ʿAmmār al-Mawṣilī, from al-Muʿāfā, from Ṣāliḥ and Zamʿah together, from al-Zuhrī, in that way, and that is the correct version. Zamʿah and Ṣāliḥ b. Abī al-Akhḍar made an error in this hadith from al-Zuhrī when they said, from him, from Sālim, from his father. The preserved (maḥfūẓ) version is what ʿUqayl b. Khālid, Saʿīd b. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz and others among the memorizers (ḥuffāẓ) narrated from al-Zuhrī, from Saʿīd b. al-Musayyab, from Abū Hurayrah, and that is the preserved one.

  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationṢāliḥ b. Abī al-Akhḍar and Zamʿah b. Ṣāliḥ narrated it from al-Zuhrī, from Sālim, from Ibn ʿUmar, and he erred in it. The sound (ṣaḥīḥ) version is from Saʿīd alone, from Abū Hurayrah.
