In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

machine translationSound (ṣaḥīḥ). He was asked about ʿUmar b. Abī Salamah and said: weak in hadith (ḍaʿīf al-ḥadīth).

machine translationShuʿbah used to regard ʿUmar b. Abī Salamah as weak (yuḍaʿʿifu).

  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationSaʿd b. Ibrāhīm narrates it, and there is disagreement about him. Al-Thawrī narrated it from Saʿd, from ʿUmar b. Abī Salamah, from his father, from Abū Hurayrah. It is also said, from Khallād b. Yaḥyā, from al-Thawrī, from al-Aʿmash, from Saʿd b. Ibrāhīm; the mention of al-Aʿmash in it is an error (wahm). Ibrāhīm b. Saʿd narrated it from his father, from ʿUmar b. Abī Salamah, from his father, from Abū Hurayrah. Likewise it is narrated from Ayyūb, from Saʿd b. Ibrāhīm, from ʿUmar b. Abī Salamah, from his father, from Abū Hurayrah; ʿAbd al-Wārith said this from him. Zakariyyā b. Abī Zāʾidah narrated it from Saʿd b. Ibrāhīm, from Abū Salamah, without mentioning ʿUmar in it. There is disagreement about Ṣāliḥ b. Kaysān: it is said from him, from al-Zuhrī, from Abū Salamah, from Abū Hurayrah; Muḥammad b. ʿAbdullāh al-Raqāshī said that from Muslim b. Khālid, from him. Saʿd b. Ibrāhīm is a Zuhrī, so if he meant by his saying 'al-Zuhrī' Saʿd b. Ibrāhīm, then fine; otherwise he has erred. Ibn Wahb narrated it from Muslim b. Khālid, from Ṣāliḥ b. Kaysān, from Saʿd b. Ibrāhīm. Likewise Ismāʿīl b. ʿAyyāsh narrated it from Ṣāliḥ b. Kaysān, from Saʿd b. Ibrāhīm, from Abū Salamah, from Abū Hurayrah. Hammām narrated it from Yaḥyā b. Saʿīd al-Anṣārī, from Saʿd b. Ibrāhīm, from a man he did not name, from Abū Hurayrah. The correct (ṣaḥīḥ) one is the statement of al-Thawrī and those who followed him.
