What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

machine translationVery feeble (wāhin) because of this Kathīr.

  • Ibn Ḥazm

machine translationKathīr b. ʿAbdullāh b. Zayd b. ʿAmr is worthless (sāqiṭ) and there is agreement that he is to be discarded; narrating from him is not permissible. The two biographical entries have been confused, and the correct [reading] is what is narrated through the route of Kathīr b. ʿAbdullāh from his grandfather.

  • Zarqānī

machine translationIn its chain is Kathīr, who is weak (ḍaʿīf), but its supporting report (shāhid) is the hadith of the chapter.

  • Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī

machine translationAnd he is weak (ḍaʿīf).
