حَدَّثَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ أَبِي سَهْلٍ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ ثَوْرِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَعْدَانَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَلْمٍ عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ الْكَلاَعِيِّ عَنْ أُبَىِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ قَالَ
عَلَّمْتُ رَجُلاً الْقُرْآنَ فَأَهْدَى إِلَىَّ قَوْسًا فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنْ أَخَذْتَهَا أَخَذْتَ قَوْسًا مِنْ نَارٍ فَرَدَدْتُهَا

عبد الرحمن هذا ليس بالمشهور روى له ابن ماجه هذا الحديث الواحد وقال ابن الجوزي في علله إنه ضعيف وإن هذا الحديث لا يصح لأجله وكذا جزم بضعفه في كتابه الضعفاء والمتروكين من غير نسبة ذلك لأحد
machine translationThis ʿAbd al-Raḥmān is not well known. Ibn Mājah narrated only this one hadith from him. Ibn al-Jawzī said in his al-ʿIlal that he is weak (ḍaʿīf) and that this hadith is not authentic because of him. He likewise stated categorically that he is weak in his book al-Ḍuʿafāʾ wa-l-Matrūkīn, without attributing that to anyone.
