What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

  • Ibn al-Qaṭṭān

machine translationA ḥadīth that is not authentic (ṣaḥīḥ), because we do not know this Abū ʿUthmān, nor anyone who narrated from him other than Sulaymān al-Taymī; and if he is not known, then his father is even further from being known.

  • Ibn al-Qaṭṭān

machine translationHe found it defective (muʿall) due to inconsistency (iḍṭirāb), due to its being halted (mawqūf) at a Companion, and due to the unknown status (jahālah) of Abū ʿUthmān and his father.

  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationThis ḥadīth has a weak (ḍaʿīf) chain and an unknown (majhūl) text, and no ḥadīth on this topic is authentic (ṣaḥīḥ).
