وَأَخْبَرَنَا الشَّيْخُ الْفَقِيهُ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمُسَلَّمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْكَتَّانِيُّ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا الْأُسْتَاذُ أَبُو عُثْمَانَ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الصَّابُونِيُّ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو طَاهِرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ خُزَيْمَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ خُزَيْمَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا هَمَّامٌ، وَأَبَانُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ جَمِيعًا عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ

كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ مِنَ الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ وَسُورَةٍ، وَيُسْمِعُنَا الْآيَةَ أَحْيَانًا، وَيَقْرَأُ [ فِي ] الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُخْرَيَيْنِ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ

✧ He used to recite in the first two rak’ahs of the noon and afternoon prayers the Opening of the Book and a surah, and sometimes he would let us hear a verse, and he would recite in the last two rak’ahs the Opening of the Book.
