✧ When the Prophet ﷺ returned from Hunayn, I set out as the tenth of ten from Makkah seeking them. I heard them calling to prayer, so we stood to call, mocking them. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'I have heard among these the call of a man with a beautiful voice.' He sent for us, and we called [one man after another], and I was the last of them. When I called, he said: 'Come.' He seated me before him, wiped my forelock, and blessed me three times. Then he said: 'Go and call at the Sacred House.' I said: 'How, O Messenger of Allah?' He taught me the call as they call it now: Allah is Greater, Allah is Greater; I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, I bear witness that there is no god but Allah; I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; Come to prayer, Come to prayer; Come to success, Come to success; Prayer is better than sleep, Prayer is better than sleep—in the first of the dawn; Allah is Greater, Allah is Greater; there is no god but Allah. He said: And he taught me the iqamah twice each: Allah is Greater, Allah is Greater; I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, I bear witness that there is no god but Allah; I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; Come to prayer, Come to prayer; Come to success, Come to success; The prayer has commenced, The prayer has commenced; Allah is Greater, Allah is Greater; there is no god but Allah.
