حَدَّثَنَا سَلْمُ بْنُ جُنَادَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ:

خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ عِنْدِي وَهُوَ قَرِيرُ الْعَيْنِ، طَيِّبُ النَّفْسِ، ثُمَّ رَجَعَ إِلَيَّ وَهُوَ حَزِينٌ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ خَرَجْتَ مِنْ عِنْدِي، وَأَنْتَ كَذَا وَكَذَا قَالَ: إِنِّي دَخَلْتُ الْكَعْبَةَ، وَدِدْتُ أَنِّي لَمْ أَكُنْ فَعَلْتُ، إِنِّي أَخَافُ أَنْ أَكُونَ قَدْ أَتْعَبْتُ أُمَّتِي مِنْ بَعْدِي

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ left me while he was delighted, at ease, then he returned to me while he was sad. I said: O Messenger of Allah, you left me while you were such and such. He said: I entered the Kaʿbah. I wish I had not done that. I fear that I may have burdened my community after me.
