Chain of narrators
- ʿAṭāʾ
- Ibn ʿAbbās
✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ distributed sheep among his companions that day, and Sa'd b. Abi Waqqas received a young he-goat, which he slaughtered for himself. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood at 'Arafah, he commanded Rabi'ah b. Umayyah b. Khalaf, who stood beneath the forelegs of his she-camel, and the Prophet ﷺ said to him: 'Call out: O people, do you know which month this is?' They said: 'The sacred month.' He said: 'Do you know which land this is?' They said: 'The sacred land.' He said: 'Do you know which day this is?' They said: 'The greater Hajj.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Allah has made your blood and your property sacred like the sanctity of this month of yours, like the sanctity of this land of yours, and like the sanctity of this day of yours.' Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ completed his Hajj, and when he stood at 'Arafah he said: 'This is the standing place, and all of 'Arafah is a standing place.' And when he stood at Quzah he said: 'This is the standing place, and all of Muzdalifah is a standing place.'
