✧ I performed Hajj with Abdullah b. Umar b. al-Khattab, between Hajj and Umrah, twelve times. He said: I said to him: O Abu Abd al-Rahman, I have seen four characteristics from you. Then he mentioned the hadith and said: I saw that when you entered ihram and entered the Arsh, you stopped the talbiyah. He said: You are right, O Ibn Jurayj. I went out with the Messenger of God ﷺ, and when he entered the Arsh, he stopped the talbiyah. My talbiyah will not cease until I die.

  • Ibn Khuzaymah

machine translationWhen I examined the report of ʿUbayd b. Jurayj, it contained what indicates that the Prophet ﷺ used to stop the talbiyah when he entered the ʿurūsh of Makkah. And the report of ʿUbayd b. Jurayj is firmer in its chain of transmission than the report of ʿAṭāʾ, because Ibn Abī Laylā is not a reliable memorizer (ḥāfiẓ), even though he is a jurist and a scholar.
