✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ saw him while his lice were falling on his face, and said, “Are your vermin troubling you?” He said, “Yes.” So he commanded him to shave while he was at al-Hudaybiyyah, but he had not made clear to them that they could exit ihram there, for they were still hoping to enter Makkah. Then God, Mighty and Majestic, sent down the ransom, and the Messenger of God ﷺ commanded him to feed a faraq among six, or sacrifice a sheep as an offering, or fast three days.

machine translationThe sound report of Kaʿb b. ʿUjrah is what Ibn Abī Laylā narrated, while the narrations of the others are unsettled (muḍṭarib) and mistaken. It is therefore obligatory to abandon what is unsettled in it and to return to the narration of ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, which is not unsettled.
