✧ Obligation to Replace the Obligatory Hadi If It Is Lost

حَدَّثَنَا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، وَصَالِحُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَامِرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي نَافِعٌ، عَنِ [ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ]، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ:

مَنْ أَهْدَى تَطَوُّعًا ثُمَّ ضَلَّتْ، فَإِنْ شَاءَ أَبْدَلَهَا، وَإِنْ شَاءَ تَرَكَ، وَإِنْ كَانَتْ فِي نَذْرٍ فَلْيُبَدِّلْ

Translation

✧ Whoever offers a voluntary sacrificial animal and it goes astray, then if he wishes he may replace it, and if he wishes he may leave it. But if it was [obligatory] due to a vow, then he must replace it.
