✧ Asma' asked the Prophet ﷺ about taking a bath after menstruation. He mentioned part of the hadith. She also asked him about taking a bath from janabah. He said: One of you should take her water and purify herself, making her purification thorough. Then she should pour water over her head and rub it until it reaches the roots of her hair. Then she should pour water over her head. 'A'ishah said: What excellent women are the women of the Ansar! Their modesty did not prevent them from understanding the religion.

  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationIbrāhīm b. Muhājir narrates it, and there is disagreement about him. Al-Aʿmash and al-Thawrī narrated it from Ibrāhīm b. Muhājir, from Ṣafiyyah bt. Shaybah, from ʿĀʾishah. Al-Layth said: from Ibrāhīm b. Muhājir, from Mujāhid or someone else, from ʿĀʾishah. The sound (ṣaḥīḥ) view is the statement of those who said: from Ṣafiyyah bt. Shaybah, from ʿĀʾishah.

machine translationThe aḥādīth of Ibrāhīm b. Muhājir are acceptable (ṣāliḥah); some of them support others, and his ḥadīth is to be written down among the weak narrators (ḍuʿafāʾ).

machine translationThe wording "she should rub it vigorously until the water reaches the roots of her hair" was brought by Ibrāhīm b. al-Muhājir, who is not strong (laysa bi-qawī). Muslim recorded him in the corroborating reports (al-mutābaʿāt).
