Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah 2748

Translation

✧ Sa'd b. Ubadah went out with the Prophet ﷺ on one of his military expeditions. The mother of Sa'd was on her deathbed, and it was said to her: Make a bequest. She said: What should I bequeath? The wealth is Sa'd's wealth. She died before Sa'd returned. When Sa'd arrived, this was mentioned to him, and he said: O Messenger of Allah, will it benefit her if I give charity on her behalf? He said: Yes. Sa'd said: The garden of such-and-such is charity on her behalf, referring to a garden he had named.
