حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي صَفْوَانَ الثَّقَفِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزُ بْنُ أَسَدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ:

لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ: لَنْ تَنَالُوا الْبِرَّ حَتَّى تُنْفِقُوا مِمَّا تُحِبُّونَ أَتَى أَبُو طَلْحَةَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، لَيْسَ لِي أَرْضٌ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَرْضِي بَارِيحَاءَ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: بَرِيحَاءُ خَيْرٌ رَايِحٌ أَوْ خَيْرُ رَابِحٌ - يَشُكٌّ الشَّيْخُ - فَقَالَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ: وَإِنِّي أَتَقَرَّبُ بِهَا إِلَى اللهِ، فَقَالَ: " اجْعَلْهَا فِي قَرَابَتِكَ. فَقَسَمَهَا بَيْنَهُمْ حَدَائِقَ

Translation

✧ When it was revealed: You will not attain righteousness until you spend from what you love, Abu Talhah came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was on the pulpit and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have no land more beloved to me than my land Bariha'." The Prophet ﷺ said: "Bariha' is a good returner, or best gainer" – the Shaykh was uncertain – Abu Talhah said: "I seek nearness to Allah with it." He said: "Place it among your relatives." So he divided it among them as gardens.
