✧ While we were sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the mosque, a man entered on a camel, made it kneel in the mosque, then hobbled it. Then he said: Which of you is Muhammad? And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was reclining among them. He said: We said to him: This white man, the one reclining. He said: O son of Abd al-Muttalib. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: 'I have answered you.' The man said to him: I am going to ask you, and I will press hard in my questioning, so do not hold it against me. He said: 'Ask whatever appears to you.' He said: I adjure you by your Lord and the Lord of those before you: Did Allah send you to all the people? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'O Allah, yes.' He said: I adjure you by Allah: Did Allah command you to pray the five prayers in the day and night? He said: 'O Allah, yes.' He said: I adjure you by Allah: Did Allah command you to take this charity from our rich and divide it among our poor? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'O Allah, yes.' The man said: I have believed in what you brought, and I am the messenger of those behind me from my people, and I am Dimam b. Tha'labah, the brother of Sa'd b. al-Hakam.

machine translationA hadith narrated by Ibn Abī Fudayk from al-Ḍaḥḥāk b. ʿUthmān from Saʿīd al-Maqburī from Abū Hurayrah is an error (wahm). Rather, it was narrated by al-Layth from Saʿīd al-Maqburī from Sharīk b. ʿAbdillāh b. Abī Namir from Anas from the Prophet ﷺ, and that is more likely correct.
