✧ That the Messenger of God ﷺ was one day in her house, and with him were men from his companions conversing, when a man came and said: O Messenger of God, the zakat of such-and-such dates is so-and-so? The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "So-and-so." The man said: But so-and-so transgressed against me and took from me so-and-so, adding a sa'. The Messenger of God ﷺ said to him: "Then how will it be when one who transgresses against you more severely than this transgression is set over you as collector?" The people entered into discussion and the talk overwhelmed them until one of them said: O Messenger of God, if a man is away at his camels, his livestock, and his crops, and he pays the zakat of his wealth, but the right is transgressed against him, what should he do while he is away? The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "Whoever pays the zakat of his wealth with a good soul, seeking the face of God and the Hereafter, has not hidden anything of his wealth, and establishes prayer, then pays the zakat but the right is transgressed against him, so he takes up his weapon and fights and is killed, he is a martyr."
