حَدَّثَنَا بُنْدَارٌ، وَأَبُو مُوسَى، وَيُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى قَالُوا: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ ثُمَامَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ
أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقَ، لَمَّا اسْتُخْلِفَ كَتَبَ لَهُ: بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ، هَذِهِ فَرِيضَةُ الصَّدَقَةِ الَّتِي فَرَضَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِينَ الَّتِي أَمَرَ اللهُ بِهَا رَسُولَهُ، فَذَكَرُوا الْحَدِيثَ، وَقَالُوا: لَا يُجْمَعُ بَيْنَ مُتَفَرِّقٍ، وَلَا يُفَرِّقُ بَيْنَ مُجْتَمِعٍ خَشْيَةَ الصَّدَقَةِ، وَمَا كَانَ مِنْ خَلِيطَيْنِ، فَهُمَا يَتَرَاجَعَانِ بَيْنَهُمَا بِالسَّوِيَّةِ ".

✧ That Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, when he became caliph, wrote to him: "In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate. This is the obligation of charity that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ imposed upon the Muslims, which Allah commanded His Messenger. They mentioned the hadith, and said: 'Separate herds should not be combined, nor combined herds separated, for fear of charity. And whatever belongs to two partners, they shall settle between themselves equally.'"
