✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was observing i'tikaf. I came to visit him at night, and I talked to him. Then I got up to leave, and he got up to escort me back. Her dwelling was in the house of Usama. Two men of the Ansar passed by, and when they saw the Prophet ﷺ, they hastened. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Take your time. She is Safiyya bint Huyayy." They said: "Glory be to Allah, O Messenger of Allah!" He said: "Satan runs through the human being like blood flows, and I feared that he might cast evil into your hearts," or he said, "something."

machine translationAl-Zuhrī narrates it, and there is disagreement about it from him. Maʿmar, Shuʿayb b. Abī Ḥamzah, ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Isḥāq and al-Jarrāḥ b. Minhāl narrated it from al-Zuhrī, from ʿAlī b. al-Ḥusayn, from Ṣafiyyah. Ibn ʿUyaynah narrated it from al-Zuhrī, from ʿAlī b. al-Ḥusayn as a mursal report (mursal), and the connected (muttaṣil) version is more authentic (aṣaḥḥ).
