حَدَّثَنَا مُؤَمَّلُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عُلَيَّةَ، عَنْ عُيَيْنَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ:
ذَكَرْتُ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ عِنْدَ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ، فَقَالَ: مَا أَنَا بِطَالِبِهَا إِلَّا فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأَوَاخِرِ بَعْدَ حَدِيثٍ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ: الْتَمِسُوهَا فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأَوَاخِرِ، فِي تِسْعٍ بَقِينَ، أَوْ فِي سَبْعٍ بَقِينَ، أَوْ فِي خَمْسٍ بَقِينَ، أَوْ فِي ثَلَاثٍ بَقِينَ، أَوْ فِي آخِرِ لَيْلَةٍ "، فَكَانَ لَا يُصَلِّي فِي الْعِشْرِينَ إِلَّا كَصَلَاتِهِ فِي سَائِرِ السَّنَةِ، فَإِذَا دَخَلَتِ الْعَشْرُ اجْتَهَدَ
Translation

✧ Laylat al-Qadr was mentioned in the presence of Abu Bakrah, and he said: I will not seek it except in the last ten, after a hadith I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and I heard him say: "Seek it in the last ten — in nine remaining, or in seven remaining, or in five remaining, or in three remaining, or in the last night." So he would not pray in the twenty [nights] except like his prayer in the rest of the year, but when the ten entered, he exerted himself.
