✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ observed i'tikaf during the first ten days of Ramadan, then he observed i'tikaf during the middle ten in a Turkish tent, over the opening of which was a piece of matting. He said: He took the matting with his hand and moved it aside in a corner of the tent, then he looked out with his head and spoke to the people, so they drew near to him. He said: "I observed i'tikaf during the first ten days seeking this night, then I observed i'tikaf during the middle ten, then I came and it was said to me: It is in the last ten. So whoever of you wishes to observe i'tikaf, let him do so." So the people observed i'tikaf with him. He said: "And I was shown it on an odd night, and I saw myself prostrating on the morning of it in mud and water." Then he woke on the night of the twenty-first, and he had stood for the dawn prayer when the sky rained, and the mosque leaked, and I saw the mud and water. He came out when he finished the dawn prayer, and his forehead and nose were in water and mud, and it was the night of the twenty-first in the last ten.
