حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ:

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَتْرُكُ الْعَمَلَ وَهُوَ يُحِبُّ أَنْ يَفْعَلَهُ خَشْيَةَ أَنْ يُسْتَنَنَ بِهِ، فَيُفْرَضَ عَلَيْهِمْ، وَكَانَ يُحِبُّ مَا خَفَّ عَلَى النَّاسِ مِنَ الْفَرَائِضِ

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to leave a deed while he loved to do it, fearing that it would be taken as a sunnah and then made obligatory upon them; and he loved what was light upon people among the obligations.
