أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو طَاهِرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَمَّارٍ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ حُرَيْثٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى، عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ الْبَجَلِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ جَرِيرٍ:
أَنَّ جَرِيرًا بَالَ وَتَوَضَّأَ، وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ فَعَابُوا عَلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ: رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَمْسَحُ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ. فَقِيلَ لَهُ: ذَلِكَ قَبْلَ الْمَائِدَةِ ؟ قَالَ: إِنَّمَا كَانَ إِسْلَامِي بَعْدَ الْمَائِدَةِ

✧ Jarīr urinated, performed wuḍūʾ, and wiped over his khuffayn, and they criticized him for it. He said, “I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wiping over the khuffayn.” It was said to him, “That was before [the revelation of] al-Māʾidah?” He said, “My Islam only came after al-Māʾidah.”
