أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو طَاهِرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْهَاشِمِيُّ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي مَحْمُودُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ

أَنَّهُ عَقَلَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ، وَعَقَلَ مَجَّةً مَجَّهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ دَلْوٍ مِنْ بِئْرٍ كَانَتْ فِي دَارِهِمْ فِي وَجْهِهِ، فَزَعَمَ مَحْمُودٌ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عِتْبَانَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ الْأَنْصَارِيَّ، وَكَانَ مِمَّنْ شَهِدَ بَدْرًا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: كُنْتُ أُصَلِّي لِقَوْمِي بَنِي سَالِمٍ، فَكَانَ يَحُولُ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُمْ وَادٍ إِذَا جَاءَتِ الْأَمْطَارُ، قَالَ: فَشَقَّ عَلَيَّ أَنْ أَجْتَازَهُ قِبَلَ مَسْجِدِهِمْ، فَجِئْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: إِنِّي قَدْ أَنْكَرْتُ مِنْ بَصَرِي، وَإِنَّ الْوَادِيَ الَّذِي يَحُولُ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ قَوْمِي يَسِيلُ إِذَا جَاءَتِ الْأَمْطَارُ، فَيَشُقُّ عَلَيَّ أَنْ أَجْتَازَهُ، فَوَدِدْتُ أَنَّكَ تَأْتِينِي فَتُصَلِّي مِنْ بَيْتِي مُصَلًّى أَتَّخِذُهُ مُصَلًّى، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " سَأَفْعَلُ "، فَغَدَا عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ بَعْدَ مَا امْتَدَّ النَّهَارُ، فَاسْتَأْذَنَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَذِنْتُ لَهُ، فَلَمْ يَجْلِسْ حَتَّى قَالَ: أَيْنَ تُحِبُّ أَنْ أُصَلِّيَ لَكَ فِي بَيْتِكَ ؟ "، فَأَشَرْتُ لَهُ إِلَى الْمَكَانِ الَّذِي أُحِبُّ أَنْ أُصَلِّيَ فِيهِ، فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَكَبَّرَ، وَصَفَفْنَا وَرَاءَهُ فَرَكَعَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ، وَسَلَّمْنَا حِينَ سَلَّمَ

✧ He was aware of the Messenger of God ﷺ, and he was aware of a mouthful of water that the Messenger of God ﷺ spat from a bucket from a well in their house into his face. Mahmud claimed that he heard ʿItban b. Malik al-Ansari, who was among those who witnessed Badr with the Messenger of God ﷺ, say: I used to lead my people Banu Salim in prayer, and a valley separated me from them when the rains came. He said: It was hard for me to cross it to their mosque, so I came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said to him: I have noticed my eyesight, and the valley that separates me from my people overflows when the rains come, and it is hard for me to cross it. I wish you would come to me and pray in my house in a place that I would take as a prayer place. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: I will do so. The Messenger of God ﷺ came to me with Abu Bakr after the day had advanced, and the Messenger of God ﷺ asked my permission, and I gave him permission. He did not sit until he said: Where would you like me to pray for you in your house? I pointed to the place where I would like him to pray. The Messenger of God ﷺ stood and said the takbir, and we lined up behind him. He bowed two rakʿahs, then he said the salutation, and we said the salutation when he said it.
