✧ When Abu Hurayrah died, I said: By Allah, if I were to go to Abu Sa'id al-Khudri... So I went to him, and he mentioned a long hadith about the story of the palm stalks. He said: Then the sky stirred that night, and when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out for the Isha prayer, a lightning flash occurred, and he saw Qatadah b. al-Nu'man, so he said: "What is the night travel, O Qatadah?" He said: I knew, O Messenger of Allah, that those witnessing the prayer tonight would be few, so I wished to attend it. He said: "When you pray, stay put until I pass by you." When he finished, he gave him the palm stalk and said: "Take this, it will light for you ten in front of you and ten behind you. When you enter your house and see a blackness in a corner of the house, strike it before you speak, for it is Satan." He said: He did so, and that is why we love these palm stalks.
