✧ I came to Madinah and met Ubayy b. Ka‘b. I said: O Abu al-Mundhir! Tell me the most amazing hadith you heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed the Fajr prayer with us – or led us – then he turned and said: “Is so-and-so present?” We said: No, and he did not attend the prayer. He said: “Is so-and-so present?” We said: No, and he did not attend the prayer. Then he said: “The heaviest prayers upon the hypocrites are the ‘Isha prayer and the Fajr prayer. If they knew what is in them, they would come to them even if crawling. The first row is like the row of the angels, and if you knew its virtue you would race to it. Your prayer with one man is purer than your prayer alone, and your prayer with two men is purer than your prayer with one man, and the more [you increase], the more beloved it is to Allah.”

machine translationAbū Isḥāq had a wide range of hadith. It is possible that he heard from Abū Baṣīr, that he heard from Ibn Abī Baṣīr from Abū Baṣīr, and that he heard from al-ʿAyzār from Abū Baṣīr. My father said: I heard Sulaymān b. Ḥarb say: Wahb b. Jarīr informed me, he said: Shuʿbah said: Abū Isḥāq heard this hadith from both ʿAbdullāh b. Abī Baṣīr and from Abū Baṣīr.
in صحيح ابن خزيمة, p. 1662 - Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr
machine translationThey used as evidence the hadith of Abū Baṣīr from Ubayy b. Kaʿb, raised to the Prophet (marfūʿ), to that effect, but it is a hadith that is not strong (laysa bi-l-qawī).
