✧ The sun eclipsed during the time of the Messenger of God ﷺ, and that was the day on which his son Ibrahim, the son of the Messenger of God ﷺ, died. The people said, 'The sun eclipsed only because of the death of Ibrahim.' So the Messenger of God ﷺ stood and prayed with the people six bowings in four prostrations. He said the takbir, then recited and prolonged the recitation, then bowed for about the length of his standing, then raised his head and recited a recitation shorter than the first, then bowed for about the length of his recitation, then raised his head and recited a recitation shorter than the second, then bowed for about the length of his recitation, then raised his head, then went down and prostrated twice, then stood and performed three bowings before prostrating, none of which was except that the one before it was longer than the one after it, except that his bowing was about the length of his standing. Then he stepped back in his prayer, and the rows stepped back with him, then he stepped forward, and the rows stepped forward with him. He completed the prayer, and the sun had become bright. Then he said, 'O people, the sun and the moon are only two signs among the signs of God, and they do not eclipse for the death of any human being. So when you see anything of that, pray until it clears.'
