✧ A black slave girl belonged to a clan of the Arabs. They manumitted her, and she remained with them. One day a young girl of theirs went out wearing a red leather ornamented sash. It fell from her, and a kite passed by, thought it was meat, and snatched it. They searched for it but did not find it, so they accused her of taking it. They searched her, even examining her private part. He said: While they were in that state, the kite passed by and dropped the sash, and it fell among them. She said to them: 'This is what you accused me of, and I am innocent of it. Here it is as you see.' Then she came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and embraced Islam. She had a tent or a small room in the mosque. She said: She used to come to me and sit with me. She would hardly sit with me without saying: 'The day of the sash is among the wonders of our Lord. Indeed, He delivered me from the land of disbelief.' I said to her: 'Why is it that you never sit with me without saying this?' She said:... Then she told me the story.
