حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الْأَغَرِّ قَالَ: أَشْهَدُ عَلَى أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، وَأَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ أَنَّهُمَا

شَهِدَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ: إِنَّ اللهَ يُمْهِلُ حَتَّى يَذْهَبَ ثُلُثُ اللَّيْلِ فَيَنْزِلُ، فَيَقُولُ: هَلْ مِنْ سَائِلٍ ؟ هَلْ مِنْ تَائِبٍ ؟ هَلْ مِنْ مُسْتَغْفِرٍ مِنْ ذَنْبٍ ؟ "، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ: حَتَّى مَطْلَعِ الْفَجْرِ ؟ قَالَ: " نَعَمْ

Translation

✧ They testified about the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he said: "Indeed Allah grants respite until a third of the night has passed, then He descends and says: 'Is there anyone asking? Is there anyone repenting? Is there anyone seeking forgiveness for a sin?'" A man said to him: "Until the break of dawn?" He said: "Yes."
