The number of Aws who were present at Badr
[ نَسَبُ عَفْرَاءَ ] قَالَ ابْنُ هِشَامٍ: عَفْرَاءُ بِنْتُ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ غَنْمِ بْنِ مَالِكِ بْنِ النَّجَّارِ، وَيُقَالُ: رِفَاعَةُ: ابْنُ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ سَوَادٍ. قَالَ ابْنُ إسْحَاقَ: وَالنُّعْمَانُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ رِفَاعَةَ بْنِ سَوَادٍ، وَيُقَالُ: نُعَيْمَانُ، فِيمَا قَالَ ابْنُ هِشَامٍ. قَالَ ابْنُ إسْحَاقَ وَعَامِرُ بْنُ مُخَلِّدِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ سَوَادٍ، وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ قَيْسِ بْنِ خَالِدِ بْنِ خَلَّدَةَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ سَوَادٍ، وَعُصَيْمَةُ حَلِيفٌ لَهُمْ مِنْ أَشْجَعَ؛ وَوَدِيعَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، حَلِيفٌ لَهُمْ مِنْ جُهَيْنَةَ؛ وَثَابِتُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ عَدِيِّ بْنِ سَوَادٍ ( و ) زَعَمُوا أَنَّ أَبَا الْحَمْرَاءِ، مَوْلَى الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عَفْرَاءَ، قَدْ شَهِدَ بَدْرًا. عَشَرَةُ نَفَرٍ. قَالَ ابْنُ هِشَامٍ: أَبُو الْحَمْرَاءِ، مَوْلَى الْحَارِثِ بْنِ رِفَاعَةَ
Translation
✧ [The Lineage of ʿAfrāʾ] Ibn Hishām said: ʿAfrāʾ bt. ʿUbayd b. Thaʿlabah b. ʿUbayd b. Thaʿlabah b. Ghanm b. Mālik b. al-Najjār. And it is said: Rifāʿah b. al-Ḥārith b. Sawād. Ibn Isḥāq said: And al-Nuʿmān b. ʿAmr b. Rifāʿah b. Sawād, and it is said Nuʿaymān, according to what Ibn Hishām said. Ibn Isḥāq said: And ʿĀmir b. Mukhallad b. al-Ḥārith b. Sawād, and ʿAbd Allāh b. Qays b. Khālid b. Khalladah b. al-Ḥārith b. Sawād, and ʿUṣaymah, an ally of theirs from Ashjaʿ; and Wadīʿah b. ʿAmr, an ally of theirs from Juhaynah; and Thābit b. ʿAmr b. Zayd b. ʿAdī b. Sawād. And they claimed that Abū al-Ḥamrāʾ, the client of al-Ḥārith b. ʿAfrāʾ, had witnessed Badr. Ten persons. Ibn Hishām said: Abū al-Ḥamrāʾ, the client of al-Ḥārith b. Rifāʿah.
