Translation

✧ ʿAdī b. Zayd said concerning that:: And al-Ḥaḍr—a calamity befell it from above it, mighty are its shoulders, lordly; its mother was not spared for its appointed time when its watchman neglected it, when he was given an evening draught of clear ruddy wine—and wine, does its drinker wander astray? So it delivered up its people on that night of theirs, thinking that the chief was her suitor; and the portion of the bride when the dawn broke was blood flowing, its locks unbound. And al-Ḥaḍr was ruined and laid open to plunder, and in its very bridal chamber its wooden pegs were burned. These verses are part of a qaṣīdah of his. Mention of the children of Nizār b. Maʿadd [His children according to Ibn Isḥāq and Ibn Hishām] Ibn Isḥāq said: Nizār b. Maʿadd begat three persons: Muḍar b. Nizār, Rabīʿah b. Nizār, and Anmār b. Nizār. Ibn Hishām said: and Iyād b. Nizār. Al-Ḥārith b. Daws al-Iyādī said, and it is also related from Abū Duwād al-Iyādī, whose name was Jāriyah b. al-Ḥajjāj:: And handsome youths—their faces are from Iyād b. Nizār b. Maʿadd. This verse is part of some verses of his. The mother of Muḍar and Iyād was Sawdah bt. ʿAkk b. ʿAdnān, and the mother of Rabīʿah and Anmār was Shufayqah bt. ʿAkk b. ʿAdnān, and it is also said Jumuʿah bt. ʿAkk b. ʿAdnān.
