The Killing of Abū Jahl

[ مَقْتَلُ أَبِي جَهْلٍ ] قَالَ ابْنُ إسْحَاقَ: وَأَقْبَلَ أَبُو جَهْلٍ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَرْتَجِزُ، وَهُوَ يُقَاتِلُ وَيَقُولُ:: مَا تَنْقِمُ الْحَرْبُ الْعَوَانُ مِنِّي بَازِلُ عَامَيْنِ حَدِيثٌ سنى لِمِثْلِ هَذَا وَلَدَتْنِي أُمِّي

Translation

✧ [The Killing of Abū Jahl] Ibn Isḥāq said: Abū Jahl came forward that day reciting rajaz verses while fighting, and he said: What does the fierce war resent in me, A full-grown camel of two years, recent in age? For the like of this my mother bore me.
