The rising of Sayf b. Dhī Yazan and the reign of Wahriz over Yemen

Translation

✧ The departure of Sayf b. Dhī Yazan and the rule of Wahrz over Yemen [ibn Dhī Yazan at Caesar's court] When the affliction upon the people of Yemen grew prolonged, Sayf b. Dhī Yazan al-Ḥimyarī—who was known by the kunya Abū Murrah—went forth until he came to Caesar, the king of the Byzantines. He complained to him of what they were enduring, and asked him to expel the Abyssinians from Yemen and to take charge of it himself, and to send to them whomever he wished of the Byzantines, so that the kingship of Yemen would be his. But Caesar did not grant his complaint, and he found with him nothing of what he sought.
