The dream of ʿAbd Allāh b. Zayd concerning the call to prayer

Translation

✧ [The dream of ʿAbd Allāh b. Zayd regarding the call to prayer] While they were upon that, ʿAbd Allāh b. Zayd b. Thaʿlabah b. ʿAbd Rabbih, the brother of al-Ḥārith b. al-Khazraj, saw the call in a dream. He came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said to him: “O Messenger of God, a phantom visited me this night: a man passed by me wearing two green garments, carrying a bell in his hand. I said to him: ‘O servant of God, will you sell this bell?’ He said: ‘What will you do with it?’ I said: ‘We will summon to prayer with it.’ He said: ‘Shall I not guide you to something better than that?’ I said: ‘What is it?’ He said: ‘You say: God is most great, God is most great; God is most great, God is most great. I bear witness that there is no god but God; I bear witness that there is no god but God. I bear witness that Muḥammad is the Messenger of God; I bear witness that Muḥammad is the Messenger of God. Come to prayer; come to prayer. Come to success; come to success. God is most great, God is most great. There is no god but God.’”
