What was said in poetry in description of the elephant

Translation

✧ What was said in poetry describing the elephant [The Arabs' veneration of Quraysh after the incident of the Elephant] Ibn Isḥāq said: When Allah turned back the Abyssinians from Makkah and afflicted them with the punishment with which He afflicted them, the Arabs venerated Quraysh and said: They are the people of Allah; Allah fought on their behalf and spared them the burden of their enemy. And they composed poems about that, mentioning therein what Allah did to the Abyssinians and how He turned back from Quraysh their plot.
