Those who knew of the Messenger's ﷺ emigration
Translation
✧ [Those who knew of the emigration of the Messenger ﷺ] Ibn Isḥāq said: As far as I have been informed, no one knew of the departure of the Messenger of God ﷺ when he departed except ʿAlī b. Abī Ṭālib, Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq, and the family of Abū Bakr. As for ʿAlī, the Messenger of God ﷺ — as far as I have been informed — told him of his departure and commanded him to stay behind in Makkah until he should return the trusts that were in his possession for the people. There was no one in Makkah who had anything to be feared for but placed it with the Messenger of God ﷺ, because of what was known of his truthfulness and trustworthiness ﷺ.
