Sirat Ibn Hisham 562
Abū Bakr's hope to be the Prophet's companion in the emigration and what he prepared for that
Translation
✧ [Abū Bakr's hope to be the companion of the Prophet in the emigration, and what he prepared for that] Ibn Isḥāq said: Abū Bakr ؓ was a man of wealth. When he asked permission from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to emigrate, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Do not hasten; perhaps Allah will find a companion for you." He hoped that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ meant himself when he said that to him, so he bought two riding camels and kept them in his house, feeding them in preparation for that.
