The names of those who attended the ʿAqabah
[ مَنْ شَهِدَهَا مِنْ بَنِي سَلِمَةَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ تسمية من شهد العقبة الثانية منهم ] وَمِنْ بَنِي سَلِمَةَ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَسَدِ بْنِ سَارِدَةَ بْنِ تَزِيدَ بْنِ جُشَمِ بْنِ الْخَزْرَجِ؛ ثُمَّ مِنْ بَنِي عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عَدِيِّ بْنِ غَنْمِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ: الْبَرَاءُ بْنُ مَعْرُورِ بْنِ صَخْرِ بْنِ خَنْسَاءَ بْنِ سِنَانِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عَدِيِّ بْنِ غَنْمٍ نَقِيبٌ، وَهُوَ الَّذِي تَزْعُمُ بَنُو سَلَمَةَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ أَوَّلَ مَنْ ضَرَبَ عَلَى يَدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَشَرَطَ لَهُ، وَاشْتَرَطَ عَلَيْهِ، ثُمَّ تُوُفِّيَ قَبْلَ مَقْدِمِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ الْمَدِينَةَ. وَابْنُهُ بِشْرُ بْنُ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ مَعْرُورٍ، شَهِدَ بَدْرًا وَأُحُدًا وَالْخَنْدَقَ وَمَاتَ بِخَيْبَرٍ مِنْ أَكْلَةٍ أَكَلَهَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ، مِنْ الشَّاةِ الَّتِي سُمَّ فِيهَا - وَهُوَ الَّذِي قَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ، حَيْنَ سَأَلَ بَنِي سَلَمَةَ: مَنْ سَيِّدُكُمْ يَا بَنِي سَلِمَةَ ؟ فَقَالُوا: الْجَدُّ بْنُ قَيْسٍ، عَلَى بُخْلِهِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: وَأَيُّ دَاءٍ أَكْبَرُ مِنْ الْبُخْلِ سَيِّدُ بَنِي سَلِمَةَ الْأَبْيَضُ الْجَعْدُ بِشْرُ بْنُ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ مَعْرُورٍ وَسِنَانُ بْنُ صَيْفَى بْنِ صَخْرِ بْنِ خَنْسَاءَ بْنِ سِنَانِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ، شَهِدَ بَدْرًا، ( وَقُتِلَ يَوْمَ الْخَنْدَقِ شَهِيدًا ). وَالطُّفَيْلُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ خَنْسَاءَ بْنِ سِنَانَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ، شَهِدَ بَدْرًا، وَقُتِلَ يَوْمَ الْخَنْدَقِ شَهِيدًا. وَمَعْقِلُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ بْنِ سَرْحِ بْنِ خُنَاسِ بْنِ سِنَانِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ، شَهِدَ بَدْرًا. و ( أَخُوهُ ) يَزِيدُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ، شَهِدَ بَدْرًا. وَمَسْعُودُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ بْنِ سُبَيْعِ بْنِ خَنْسَاءَ بْنِ سِنَانِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ. وَالضَّحَّاكُ بْنُ حَارِثَةَ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ، شَهِدَ بَدْرًا، وَيَزِيدُ بْنُ حَرَامِ بْنِ سُبَيْعِ بْنِ خَنْسَاءَ بْنِ سِنَانِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ. وَجُبَارُ بْنُ صَخْرِ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ بْنِ خَنْسَاءَ بْنِ سِنَانَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ، شَهِدَ بَدْرًا. قَالَ ابْنُ هِشَامٍ: وَيُقَالُ: جَبَّارُ بْنُ صَخْرِ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ بْنِ خُنَاسٍ. قَالَ ابْنُ إسْحَاقَ: وَالطُّفَيْلُ بْنُ مَالِكِ بْنِ خَنْسَاءَ بْنِ سِنَانِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ، شَهِدَ بَدْرًا. أَحَدَ عَشَرَ رَجُلًا
Translation
✧ The names of those who were present at the second ʿAqabah among them, from the Banū Salimah b. Saʿd b. ʿAlī b. Asad b. Sāridah b. Tazīd b. Jusham b. al-Khazraj; then from the Banū ʿUbayd b. ʿAdī b. Ghanm b. Kaʿb b. Salimah: al-Barāʾ b. Maʿrūr b. Ṣakhr b. Khansāʾ b. Sinān b. ʿUbayd b. ʿAdī b. Ghanm, a naqīb. He is the one whom the Banū Salimah assert was the first to strike his hand upon the hand of the Messenger of God ﷺ and stipulate for him, and he stipulated upon him. Then he died before the arrival of the Messenger of God ﷺ in Madinah. And his son Bishr b. al-Barāʾ b. Maʿrūr: he witnessed Badr, Uḥud, and the Trench, and died at Khaybar from a morsel he ate with the Messenger of God ﷺ, from the ewe in which poison had been placed. And he is the one to whom the Messenger of God ﷺ said, when he asked the Banū Salimah, 'Who is your chief, O Banū Salimah?' They said, 'Al-Jadd b. Qays, despite his miserliness.' The Messenger of God ﷺ said, 'And what disease is greater than miserliness? The chief of the Banū Salimah is the white, curly-haired Bishr b. al-Barāʾ b. Maʿrūr.' And Sinān b. Ṣayfā b. Ṣakhr b. Khansāʾ b. Sinān b. ʿUbayd: he witnessed Badr, and was killed a martyr on the day of the Trench. And al-Ṭufayl b. al-Nuʿmān b. Khansāʾ b. Sinān b. ʿUbayd: he witnessed Badr, and was killed a martyr on the day of the Trench. And Maʿqil b. al-Mundhir b. Sarḥ b. Khunās b. Sinān b. ʿUbayd: he witnessed Badr. And his brother Yazīd b. al-Mundhir: he witnessed Badr. And Masʿūd b. Yazīd b. Subayʿ b. Khansāʾ b. Sinān b. ʿUbayd. And al-Ḍaḥḥāk b. Ḥārithah b. Zayd b. Thaʿlabah b. ʿUbayd: he witnessed Badr. And Yazīd b. Ḥarām b. Subayʿ b. Khansāʾ b. Sinān b. ʿUbayd. And Jubār b. Ṣakhr b. Umayyah b. Khansāʾ b. Sinān b. ʿUbayd: he witnessed Badr. Ibn Hishām said: It is also said Jubār b. Ṣakhr b. Umayyah b. Khunās. Ibn Isḥāq said: And al-Ṭufayl b. Mālik b. Khansāʾ b. Sinān b. ʿUbayd: he witnessed Badr. Eleven men.
