The first pledge at al-ʿAqabah and Muṣʿab b. ʿUmayr
الْعَقَبَةُ الْأُولَى وَمُصْعَبُ بْنُ عُمَيْرٍ حَتَّى إذَا كَانَ الْعَامُ الْمُقْبِلُ وَافَى الْمَوْسِمَ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ اثْنَا عَشَرَ رَجُلًا، فَلَقَوْهُ بِالْعَقَبَةِ. ( قَالَ ) وَهِيَ الْعَقَبَةُ الْأُولَى، فَبَايَعُوا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَلَى بَيْعَةِ النِّسَاءِ وَذَلِكَ قَبْلَ أَنْ تُفْتَرَضَ عَلَيْهِمْ الْحَرْبُ.
Translation
✧ The first al-ʿAqabah and Muṣʿab b. ʿUmayr When the next year came, twelve men of the Anṣār attended the fair. They met him at al-ʿAqabah. He said: This is the first al-ʿAqabah. They pledged allegiance to the Messenger of God ﷺ according to the pledge of the women, and that was before war was made obligatory upon them.
