al-Aswad and his aggression against Makkah
Translation
✧ [Al-Aswad and his aggression against Makkah] When Abrahah encamped at al-Mughammis, he dispatched a man from Abyssinia called al-Aswad b. Maqṣūd with a cavalry contingent of his, until he reached Makkah. He drove off to him the livestock of the people of Tihāmah, belonging to Quraysh and others, and he seized among them two hundred camels belonging to ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib b. Hāshim, who at that time was the elder of Quraysh and their chief. Quraysh, Kinānah, Hudhayl, and those among the rest of the people who were in that sanctuary resolved to fight him. Then they realized that they had no strength against him, so they abandoned that.
