The genealogy of Thaqīf and the poetry of b. Abī al-Ṣalt about that

[ نَسَبُ ثَقِيفٍ وَشِعْرُ ابْنِ أَبِي الصَّلْتِ فِي ذَلِكَ ] وَاسْمُ ثَقِيفٍ: قَسِيُّ بْنُ النَّبِيتِ بْنِ مُنَبِّهِ بْنِ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ يَقْدُمَ بْنِ أَفْصَى بْنِ دُعْمّى بْنِ إيَادِ ( بْنِ نِزَارِ ) بْنِ مَعَدِّ بْنِ عَدْنَانَ. قَالَ أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ أَبِي الصَّلْتِ الثَّقَفِيُّ:: قَوْمِي إيَادٌ لَوْ أَنَّهُمْ أُمَمُ أَوْ لَوْ أَقَامُوا فَتُهْزَلَ النِّعَمُ قَوْمٌ لَهُمْ سَاحَةُ الْعِرَاقِ إذَا سَارُوا جَمِيعًا وَالْقِطُّ وَالْقَلَمُ وَقَالَ أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ أَبِي الصَّلْتِ أَيْضًا:: فَإِمَّا تَسْأَلِي عَنِّي لُبَيْنَى وَعَنْ نَسَبِي أُخَبِّرْكَ اليَقينَا فَإِنَّا للنَّبيتِ أَبِي قَسِيٍّ لَمَنْصُورُ بْنُ يَقْدُمَ الْأَقْدَمِينَا قَالَ ابْنُ هِشَامٍ: ثَقِيفٌ قَسِىُّ بْنُ مُنَبِّهِ بْنِ بَكْرِ بْنِ هَوَازِنَ بْنِ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ عِكْرِمَةَ بْنِ خَصَفَةَ بْنِ قَيْسِ بْنِ عَيْلَانَ بْنِ مُضَرَ بْنِ نِزَارِ بْنِ مَعَدِّ بْنِ عَدْنَانَ. وَالْبَيْتَانِ الْأَوَّلَانِ وَالْآخِرَانِ فِي قَصِيدَتَيْنِ لِأُمَيَّةِ

Translation

✧ [The genealogy of Thaqīf and the poetry of Ibn Abī al-Ṣalt on that] The name of Thaqīf is Qasiyy b. al-Nabīt b. Munabbih b. Manṣūr b. Yaqdum b. Afṣā b. Duʿmī b. Iyād b. Nizār b. Maʿadd b. ʿAdnān. Umayyah b. Abī al-Ṣalt al-Thaqafī said: My people are Iyād, if only they were nations, or if only they stayed put, then blessings would grow lean. A people who hold the courtyard of Iraq, when they travel all together, and the register and the pen. And Umayyah b. Abī al-Ṣalt also said: If you ask about me, Lubaynā, and about my lineage, I will tell you with certainty: We belong to al-Nabīt, father of Qasiyy, to Manṣūr b. Yaqdum, the most ancient ones. Ibn Hishām said: Thaqīf is Qasiyy b. Munabbih b. Bakr b. Hawāzin b. Manṣūr b. ʿIkrimah b. Khaṣafah b. Qays b. ʿAylān b. Muḍar b. Nizār b. Maʿadd b. ʿAdnān. The first two verses and the last two are from two odes by Umayyah.
